Update to Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor

[edit]

I am a representative of Monash University and I would like to request two factual updates to the summary block at the top right of the Monash University entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monash_University

1. Next to 'Chancellor', please replace Simon McKeon with Megan Clark

Rationale: Dr Megan Clark started as Chancellor on 2 July 2024. https://www.monash.edu/news/articles/monash-university-appoints-former-head-of-csiro-and-australian-space-agency-as-chancellor

2. Next to Vice-Chancellor, please replace Susan Elliott with Sharon Pickering

Rationale: Professor Sharon Pickering was appointed as Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University on 29 January 2024. https://www.monash.edu/about/structure/senior-monash-staff/office-of-the-vice-chancellor-and-president/professor-sharon-pickering

Thank you for your consideration. Ddgbrown (talk) 00:51, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Newman Lecture

[edit]

Devonian Wombat - I don't have the time right now to seek further citations, but I think the fact that this lecture series has been given by a number of eminent people and needs to be distinguished from other similarly-named events probably justifies its inclusion. I would prefer to keep it here and look for better citations (and possibly add a redirect). Laterthanyouthink (talk) 22:49, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Laterthanyouthink: If you can find a few secondary sources covering the lectures I’d have no objections to adding info on them back into the article; I do think that even if there are sources out there an entire section on one specific lecture series that does not even seem to be a yearly event was undue emphasis. Devonian Wombat (talk) 23:38, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay - I'll have a look when I've finished my current round of editing on other stuff. I like to ensure that there are finding aids (redirects and DAB pages with links) to items that could be confused with others, and it's probable that there isn't a better home for this lecture series. Will look into it presently though. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 02:47, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I could be wrong but since the lecture series appears to be held at Mannix College, which is owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne, it may not need extensive coverage on this article. Whether the lecture series is added back or not, there shouldn't be a lengthy table of previous speakers that will grow in perpetuity. Queen Douglas DC-3 (talk) 03:26, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In other words, a sentence or two in the student accommodation section would likely be sufficient. Queen Douglas DC-3 (talk) 03:28, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
